Programs and Initiatives
Education Alliance programs, initiatives, and structures provide a link between business, community, and schools to help all students succeed. Successful students are ready for higher education and career opportunities and our community benefits from a more skilled and educated workforce.
Partners in Education
Our flagship program, Partners in Education bridges business, community, and government agencies with schools to support academic achievement. There are many ways for your organization to support the education environment in our community. We will help you maximize your impact in a way that aligns with your business goals.
Run for Education
Raising more than $1.9M to date for Kids in Motion and Passport Programs, the Run is the largest family running event in our community. The event includes a timed 4K, untimed walk/run around the Sparks Marina, and a Fun Run for the little runners. Enjoy the lively Fitness Fair comprised of fun, interactive activities!
Principal for a Day
Celebrating our 12th year on February 7, 2019, this annual event provides the opportunity for a community leader to shadow a School Principal for part of the day, and then be shadowed by Principal the other half of the day. This backstage pass into education is a worthwhile experience for all participants!
P-16 Advocacy Council
P-16 Advocacy Council is comprised of members from the community and academia. The purpose is to identify opportunities to improve the structure of education in Northern Nevada and advocate for a seamless education system that helps all students successfully achieve their career and life goals.
Accepting donations all year long, the Teachers' Warehouse allows teachers to shop for classroom supplies at no cost. It's an opportunity for the community to repurpose things they have no use for and donate to classrooms.
Kids in Motion Program
The Kids in Motion (KIM) program is funded by Run for Education sponsored proceeds, restricted grants, and donations. Funding is targeted for Elementary School physical education, student wellness, and nutrition activities. To donate to the Kids in Motion program, click here!
Redfield Community Outreach Program (RCOP)
Through the generosity of the Nell J. Redfield Foundation, the three RCOP Facilitators schedule and coordinate experiential learning activities for twelve Washoe County schools. This program plays a vitally important role in providing impactful educational experiences to underserved students.
A visit from a professional makes a lasting impact—enlightening students to new ways of working, thinking, and living. Add your name to our list so local teachers know you are available. Your industry/expertise is added to a list for teachers to choose from – upon their request, we connect you!
A powerful group of educators and volunteers has compiled data from UNR, TMCC, and WCSD to tell the story of how Washoe County students are performing compared to past years and statewide/nationally. This information is very useful in sharing how student populations are performing and where resources should be allocated.
