Caring for Classrooms
Caring for Classrooms holistically addresses the needs of all 100+ WCSD Schools, reaching 61,000+ students and 3,900+ teachers.
A resource portal for teachers and schools to guide them through the process of coordinating on- and off-site educational excursions with community partners that complement their academic focus.
Principal for a 1/2 Day
This annual event is a great opportunity for a community leader to shadow a WCSD School Principal to share common successes and challenges and consider a partnership. This backstage pass into education is a worthwhile experience for all participants!
Accepting donations all year long, the Teachers' Warehouse allows teachers to shop for classroom supplies at no cost. It is a great opportunity for our community, businesses, and individuals to donate gently used items for teachers to enhance learning in the classroom!
P-16 Advocacy Council
The P-16 Advocacy Council is comprised of members from the community and academia. The purpose is to identify opportunities to improve the structure of education in Northern Nevada and advocate for a seamless education system that helps all students successfully achieve their career and life goals.
Redfield Community Outreach Program (RCOP)
Through the generosity of the Nell J. Redfield Foundation, three RCOP Facilitators schedule and coordinate experiential learning activities for twelve selected Washoe County schools. This program plays a vitally important role in providing impactful educational experiences to underserved students.
Healing through Health
Research shows a healthy mind-body connection impacts children’s ability to pay attention, comprehend, behave, and focus in class. To support student health and wellness, visit Caring for Classrooms and help WCSD students heal with healthy hearts, minds, and bodies so they are ready to learn!
Distance Learning Laptop Drive (DLLD)
Thank you to those who contributed to the Laptop Drive during the pandemic! Our Caring for Classrooms program continues this initiative by funding technology needs not covered by grants or other resources in schools. Click the box above to learn more!
