Donner Memorial State Park Field Trip

California State Parks offers field trips for students to learn about the history of the area and examine historic artifacts. Students will learn about the historic transcontinental railroad, as well as the Donner party and migration in the 1800s.

Donner Memorial State Park Field Trip

Description:

  • Trips can include a walking tour of the park with a ranger, tour/scavenger hunt of the Visitor Center which depicts the history of the area and the people who came into this part of the Sierra, including local Native Americans, the Donner Party, and builders of the transcontinental railroad
  • There is also a movie to view
  • Total visit time is about 2 hours
  • Reservations must be made:
  • WCSD bus reservations can be made but are limited to 50 capacity for each bus, due to elevation change
