Thank you for joining us at the 2017 Run for Education!
Thanks to our dedicated Board of Directors, Washoe County School District, our amazing volunteers and generous sponsors, 2017 was another wildly successful Run for Education!
The Run for Education is hosted by the Education Alliance Board and coordinated by a county-wide group of educators, volunteers, business representatives, community leaders, and government officials. This annual family and community event raises funds for students, schools, and programs in Washoe County focused on physical and academic fitness. The Run brings together families, community, business, and education for a day of fun, physical activities with 100% of sponsorship dollars going DIRECTLY back to schools and students through the Education Alliance. Located in front of Scheels at the Outlets at Sparks Marina, join us for the competitive 5k/10k races, the Sparks Marina March, an untimed walk/run around the Marina, or the 1/2 Mile Fun Run for little runners. In addition to the running events, the Fitness Fair is for kids and families to enjoy with activity-themed stations, such as bike rodeo, soccer, climbing, golf, basketball, archery, gymnastics, and many more.
The impact is huge: In 2017, there were 3,984 runners, nearly 3,000 were students, with 8,700 attendees! WCSD donates bus transportation from schools so students and families can attend. Close to 8,700 people attended, and 90 schools participated, including charter schools. Generous financial and in-kind donors and 400+ volunteers support this signature community event. To date, more than $1.7 million has been raised to fund health and academic initiatives in schools! Call 775.353.6950 to get involved, volunteer, or click here to be a sponsor.
