Nevada State Apartment Association Adopts the Education Alliance of Washoe County for the Second Year
The Nevada State Apartment Association (NVSAA), a not-for-profit organization that provides the Nevada multi-housing industry with legislative support, education and community outreach, recently adopted the Education Alliance of Washoe County as its chosen charity for the second year in a row.
The Education Alliance of Washoe County is a nonprofit organization that supports Washoe County School District students and educators through their Partners in Education program, the Run for Education, Principal for a Day, the P-16 Advocacy Council, and the Teachers’ Warehouse.
NVSAA hosted their annual Jewel Awards and invited Washoe County students to present their art pieces at the event for auction, and shared a student-produced video about the Education Alliance with the audience. Proceeds from the auction were donated to the Education Alliance to further their mission of fostering educational excellence and student achievement through leadership, advocacy, and resource development. Susy Breckon, Executive Director of the NVSAA, presented the Education Alliance with a check for $1,350.
Additionally, the NVSAA rallied apartment communities to donate supplies for the Teachers’ Warehouse in celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week. They collected more than three pallets of classroom supplies for the Teachers’ Warehouse where WCSD teachers can shop for free for classroom items.
“I am honored to support the Education Alliance,” said Susy Breckon, NVSAA President. “Their work impacts so many students, teachers, and our community at large.”
“We feel very lucky the NVSAA selected us as their charity of the year again,” said Kendall Inskip, Education Alliance Executive Director. “They are an incredibly caring and hard working group of people that jump at the opportunity to give back and make a positive difference.”
