Education Alliance Sponsors SkillsUSA Job Interview Contest
Education Alliance of Washoe County sponsored the Job Interview contest at the SkillsUSA Nevada Conference on April 11th at Circus Circus Reno. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. Volunteer judges from NV Energy, Renown Health, Panasonic USA, Washoe County, Washoe County School District, Truckee Meadows Community College, Northern Nevada Apprenticeship Coordinators Association, and Greater Nevada Federal Credit Union had the pleasure of interviewing 66 students from across the state of Nevada, making it the largest competition at the event. Ten students were selected for a final round of interviews before the top three students were awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals.
“Every year I continue to be more impressed with the caliber of students we interview. I am proud to support them on their journey of career and college readiness,” said Kendall Inskip, Contest Co-Chair and Executive Director of the Education Alliance. “Our thanks to Nanette Quitt; Co-Chair, and the business and education leaders who took the time to serve as judges to support these outstanding students.”
Diego Solis from Douglas High School earned the Gold Medal. He will go on to Louisville, Kentucky to represent Nevada in the National Competition in June 2018. Rebekkah Holmes from Reed High School (Sparks, Nevada) earned the Silver Medal, and Garret Johns from West Career and Technical Academy (Las Vegas, Nevada) earned the Bronze Award.
