Education Alliance Sponsors SkillsUSA Job Interview Competition
The Education Alliance sponsored the Job Interview contest at the SkillsUSA Nevada Conference on April 5th at Circus Circus Reno. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. Volunteer judges from Truckee Meadows Community College, University of Nevada, Reno, the City of Reno, NOW Foods, StartHuman, and Northwestern Mutual had the pleasure of interviewing 75 students from across the state of Nevada, making it the largest competition at the event. Ten students were selected for a final round of interviews before the top three students were awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals.
“This event aligns directly with Education Alliance’s mission of fostering student achievement through career and college readiness activities and opportunities. Every single one of the 75 students are leaders in their schools and to help them on their path to success is gratifying,” said Kendall Inskip, Contest Chair and Executive Director of the Education Alliance. “Our thanks to the business and education leaders who took the time to serve as judges to support these impressive students.”
Nicholson Lovering from Spanish Springs High School earned the Gold Medal. He will go onto Louisville, Kentucky to represent Nevada in the National Competition in June 2017. Karla Portan from Southeast Career Technical Academy earned the Silver Medal, and Jordyn Griffin from West Career and Technical Academy earned the Bronze Award.
