The Education Alliance of Washoe County is proud to announce Circus Circus Reno and Hunter Lake Elementary School have joined together as Partners in Education.

“Education is a top priority in our community,” said Tony Marini, Director of Casino Operations for Circus Circus Reno. “We are happy to help students and staff of the school in areas of need by providing employee volunteers, student incentives and food at events such as Hunter Lake’s annual Dinner Data Dessert Night.”

“I am honored to work with Circus Circus Reno,” said Amanda McWilliams, Hunter Lake Elementary School Principal. “Their support makes a huge impact on our students, families and staff. Circus Circus Reno is able to provide resources that we simply cannot afford.”

As a token of their appreciation, Hunter Lake Elementary School students will sing to Circus Circus Reno employees during holiday events and create artwork for display at the Hotel Casino.

Hunter Lake Elementary School faces unique challenges. Their student population includes children from extremely low income households, children who are homeless, called Children in Transition, as well as more fortunate students. Hunter Lake Elementary School is referred to as a “bubble school,” due to the elementary school’s mixed socio-economic population. It hovers just a few points away from being designated a Title I school that would receive additional federal funding to support their students but does not. Support such as that from Circus Circus Reno makes a huge difference to schools like Hunter Lake Elementary School. Currently there are 13 bubble schools in the Washoe County School District.
