        • Electrical Systems

          • Focusing specifically on appliances and lighting, the Electrical Systems unit explores how electrical energy is harnessed. Using a combination of equipment and equations, students determine the costs associated with energy consumption and devise various conservation strategies with real-world applications.
        • Garbology
          • Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) • HS-ESS3 • HS-ETS1
          • The Garbology unit takes students on a journey along with the waste stream; the life cycle of garbage. Students analyze the economic, social and environmental impacts of waste production and disposal, and examine how proper waste management is vital to the preservation of ecosystems and human health.
        • Introduction to Climate Change
          • Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) • HS-ESS2 • HS-ESS3
          • The Introduction to Climate Change unit is an in-depth exploration of the different forces affecting climate which include the sun, atmosphere, greenhouse gases, and humans. Students investigate each of these factors and how they influence the Earth.
        • Properties of Water
          • Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) • HS-ESS2 • HS-ESS3 • HS-ETS1
          • The Properties of Water unit delves into the science of water. Through various labs, students examine the cohesive forces that create surface tension, discover how the state of matter impacts density, and better understand how water behaves throughout the hydrologic cycle.
        • Thermal Systems
          • Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) • HS-ESS3 • HS-ETS1 • HS-PS3
          • The Thermal Systems curriculum explores the issues of heating, cooling and the importance of conserving energy. Students investigate everyday uses of energy, use equations to better understand the cost of energy, and create designs to test ways to improve energy use.
